Welcome to Barton Park’s EYFS page. We are excited to welcome you to our school and share our passion for providing a supportive curriculum for all.
Letters and Overview Maps
Our Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. This consists of 7 areas of learning, including:
Prime area of learning
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication and language development
- Physical development
Specific areas of learning
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
We believe in supporting all children’s individual needs and to do this we provide a balance of adult led and child led learning. We use our spacious and engaging environment to encourage children to become lifelong learners through accessing all areas of the environment independently.
Alongside the areas of learning, we also support children’s learning through the characteristics of effective learning, including:
- Active learning
- Playing and exploring
- Creative and critical thinking
Our aim is to create a passion for learning and to support the children's social and emotional needs in order to build the necessary skills they need to tackle new and exciting challenges throughout their time at school, and beyond.
To record the children’s learning, we use an online learning journal, called Tapestry. This programme allows staff to record observations on the children’s learning and development and to create assessments on these. As we believe in working closely with parents, this programme is open for parents to access. You will be able to like, comment and share your own observations from home on to your child’s learning journal, which staff will be able to see and share with the children.
